Traffic jam
means blockade of vehicles. It is one of the major problems of modern time. It
is mainly happened in urban areas. There are a lot of reasons behind traffic
jam. This problem is created by the rapid growth of population and the increasing
number of vehicles. The roads of our country are very narrow. There are many
unlicenced vehicles in our country. The drivers are not willing to obey traffic
rules. They want to drive according to their freedom. As a result, traffic jam
is created. Traffic jam is very harmful for our life. During traffic jam, life
stands still. It is really unbearable and miserable. It kills our valuable time
and our works are hampered widely. It causes great sufferings to the ambulance
carrying dying patients and the fire brigade vehicles. However, this problem
can be solved by taking some steps. We should obey the traffic rule. Our
government should construct spacious roads. One way movement of vehicles should
be introduced. Traffic rules should be imposed strictly (so that the drivers
are bound to obey traffic rules. Sufficient traffic police should be posted on
important points. Finally unlicenced vehicles should be removed. By doing the
above things, we can be free from traffic jam.

যানজট মানে যানবাহন অবরোধ। এটি আধুনিক সময়ের অন্যতম
প্রধান সমস্যা। এটি প্রধানত শহুরে এলাকায় ঘটেছে। যানজটের পেছনে অনেক কারণ রয়েছে।
জনসংখ্যার দ্রুত বৃদ্ধি এবং যানবাহনের সংখ্যা বৃদ্ধির কারণে এই সমস্যা তৈরি হয়েছে।
আমাদের দেশের রাস্তাঘাট খুবই সরু। আমাদের দেশে অনেক লাইসেন্সবিহীন যানবাহন রয়েছে।
চালকরা ট্রাফিক নিয়ম মানতে রাজি নন। তারা তাদের স্বাধীনতা অনুযায়ী গাড়ি চালাতে চায়।
ফলে যানজটের সৃষ্টি হয়। যানজট আমাদের জীবনের জন্য খুবই ক্ষতিকর। যানজটের সময়,
জীবন স্থবির হয়ে পড়ে। এটা
সত্যিই অসহনীয় এবং দুঃখজনক। এতে আমাদের মূল্যবান সময় নষ্ট হয় এবং আমাদের কাজ ব্যাপকভাবে
ব্যাহত হয়। এতে মুমূর্ষু রোগী বহনকারী অ্যাম্বুলেন্স এবং ফায়ার ব্রিগেডের গাড়িগুলোকে
চরম দুর্ভোগ পোহাতে হয়। তবে কিছু পদক্ষেপ নিলে এই সমস্যার সমাধান করা যেতে পারে। আমাদের
ট্রাফিক নিয়ম মানতে হবে। আমাদের সরকারের উচিত প্রশস্ত রাস্তা নির্মাণ করা। যানবাহন
একমুখী চলাচল চালু করতে হবে। ট্রাফিক নিয়ম কঠোরভাবে আরোপ করতে হবে (যাতে চালকরা ট্রাফিক
নিয়ম মানতে বাধ্য হয়। গুরুত্বপূর্ণ পয়েন্টে পর্যাপ্ত ট্রাফিক পুলিশ মোতায়েন করতে
হবে। সবশেষে লাইসেন্সবিহীন যানবাহন সরাতে হবে। উপরোক্ত কাজগুলো করলে আমরা ট্রাফিক জ্যাম
থেকে মুক্ত থাকতে পারি।

Traffic Jam is the clogging up of too many vehicles in one place. It is a great problem and nuisance for the modern society. The place may be a street or a highway. It is not uncommon in our country, particularly in Dhaka city. It causes unspeakable sufferings for urban people. It happens when different vehicles want to move ahead overtaking each other. On the other hand, our traffic police are not sincere. They often do not do their duties honestly. So, the unfavourable street conditions and violating the traffic rules are other reasons of traffic jam. We feel much helpless and frustrated when we get stuck in a traffic jam. Many people fail to attend their office duty in time. The worst victims are the patients carried in the ambulances to hospitals and clinics. Rickshaw-pullers and taxi-drivers also suffer a lot because they lose their time moving very slowly towards their destination. The transportation of the daily commodities gets delayed. Traffic jam can be removed if some measures can be taken, judiciously. Exemplary punishment should be given to the drivers who do not obey traffic rules. Widening the streets, making flyovers at the main crossings. reducing the member of rickshaws and above all growing public awareness are necessary for removing traffic jam. Above all, the traffic authority should be more active to enforce traffic rules and maintain the discipline on the roads.

ট্রাফিক জ্যাম হচ্ছে এক জায়গায় অনেক গাড়ির দ্বারা প্রতিবন্দকতা। আধুনিক সমাজের জন্য একটি বড় সমস্যা ও যন্ত্রণা। স্থানটি হতে পারে রাস্তা অথবা মহাসড়ক। এটা আমাদের দেশে অপরিচিত নয় বিশেষ করে ঢাকা শহরে। এটি শহর বা নগরবাসীর জন্য অবর্ণনীয় দুর্দশার সৃষ্টি করে। যখন অনেকগুলো গাড়ি একে অপরকে পাল্লা দিয়ে চলতে চায় তখন এটা ঘটে। অন্যদিকে, ট্রাফিক পুলিশরা কর্তব্যে সচেতন নয়। তারা তাদের দায়িত্ব সুচারুরূপে সম্পন্ন করে না। তাই, প্রতিকূল রাস্তার অবস্থা এবং ট্রাফিক আইন লঙ্ঘন হচ্ছে এর অন্যান্য কারণ। যখন আমরা ট্রাফিক জ্যামে আটকে যাই আমরা অসহায় ও হতাশাবোধ করি। অনেক মানুষ সময় মত অফিসে যেতে পারে না। যেসব -রোগীদের এ্যাম্বুল্যান্স করে হাসপাতাল ও ক্লিনিক নেওয়া হয় তারা সবচেয়ে বেশি ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়। রিকশাচালক ও ট্যাক্সি চালকরাও অনেক কষ্ট করে। কারণ তারা তাদের গন্তব্যের দিকে খুব ধীরে ধীরে চলে সময় নষ্ট করে। নিতা প্রয়োজনীয় পণ্যের যানবাহনগুলো দেরিতে পৌঁছে। ট্রাফিক জ্যামে নির্মূল করা যেতে পারে যদি ভেবে চিন্তে কিছু পদক্ষেপ নেয়া যায়। যেসব ড্রাইভার ট্রাফিক আইন অমান্য করে তাদেরকে দৃষ্টান্তমূলক শাস্তি দিতে হবে। রাস্তা প্রশস্তকরণ, প্রধান পারাপারের স্থানে ফ্লাইওভার নির্মাণকরণ, রিকশার সংখ্যা কমানো এবং জনসচেতনা বৃদ্ধি করা মাধ্যমে ট্রাফিক জ্যাম দূর করা যায়। সর্বোপরি, ট্রাফিক কর্তৃপক্ষকে রাস্তায় ট্রাফিক আইন প্রয়োগে ও শৃঙ্খলা রক্ষার্থে সচেষ্ট হতে হবে।
