Bangladesh is a small country but it is gifted with unlimited natural attactions. Only some of these eye-catching destinations are known to us. But there are many other areas lying in the green, remote countryside that are less-known to us. Shusong Durgapur of Birishiri is one such places.
Shusong Durgapur has an amazing landscape. It is located on the bank of crystal clear Someshwari river and is close to the Garo hills. You can see the hills of Indian state of Meghalaya from here. The nature has unfolded its glory in this small, rural landscape. Here you can see the ceramic mountain leaning against the sky, the blue water of the pictorial mountain-valley, the modest movement of the river Someshwari, and the abandoned coal mines. There is another river here called Kangsa which is also known as old Someshwari.

সুসং দুর্গাপুরের রয়েছে একটা বিস্ময়কর প্রাকৃতিক ভ‚দৃশ্য। এটা স্বচ্ছ নদী সোমেশ্বরীর তীরে এবং গারো পাহাড়ের নিকটে অবস্থিত। এখান থেকে তুমি ভারতীয় অঙ্গরাজ্য মেঘালয়ের পাহাড় দেখতে পাবে। প্রকৃতি এই ছোট, গ্রাম্য প্রাকৃতিক পরিবেশে তার সৌন্দর্য মহিমা উšে§াচিত করেছে। এখানে তুমি চিনামাটির পাহাড় যেটা আকাশের দিকে ঝুঁকে পড়েছে, চিত্রের মতো দেখতে পর্বত-উপত্যকার নীল পানি, সোমেশ্বরী নদীর ধর প্রবাহ এবং পরিত্যক্ত কয়লা খনিসমূহ দেখতে পাবে। সেখানে আরো একটা নদী আছে যার নাম কংস যেটা পুরাতন সোমেশ্বরী নামেও পরিচিত।

The National Memorial at Savar is a symbol of the nation's respect for the martyrs of the War of Liberation. It is built of concrete but made up of blood. It stands 150 feet tall. It is an achievement the dimensions of which can be measured, but it stands for an achievement which is immeasurable. It stands upright for the millions of martyrs who laid down their lives so that we may stand upright.
Most prominently visible is the 150 feet tower. There is actually a series of 7 towers that rise by stages to a height of 150 feet. The foundation was laid on the first anniversary of the Victory Day. There is actually a plan to build a huge complex. The entire complex will cover an area of 126 acres. The plan of this complex includes a mosque, a library and a museum. The relics of the Liberation War will be kept in the museum. They will ever remind the visitor who would come to visit the museum of the great sacrifice of the martyrs. Here also will be a warning to all oppressors that oppression will always be defeated. The will of people prevails, for man is born to be free.

এর সবচেয়ে উল্লেখযোগ্যভাবে দৃশ্যমান হলো ১৫০ ফুট টাওয়ারটি। প্রকৃতপক্ষে এখানে ৭টি স্তম্ভের সারি রয়েছে যা ধারাবাহিকভাবে বাড়তে বাড়তে ১৫০ ফুট উচ্চতায় উঠে গেছে। বিজয় দিবসের প্রথম বার্ষিকীতে এর ভিত্তি প্রস্তর স্থাপিত হয়। মূলত এখানে একটি বিশাল কমপ্লেক্স নির্মাণের পরিকল্পনা রয়েছে। পুরো কমপ্লেক্সটির এলাকা হবে ১২৬ একর। কমপ্লেক্সটির পরিকল্পনার মধ্যে রয়েছে একটি মসজিদ, একটি পাঠাগার এবং একটি জাদুঘর। স্বাধীনতা যুদ্ধের ধ্বংসাবশেষ এই জাদুঘরে রাখা হবে। এগুলো দর্শনার্থীদের যারা ঐ জাদুঘর পরিদর্শন করতে আসবে তাদেরকে সবসময় শহিদদের মহৎ ত্যাগের কথা স্মরণ করিয়ে দেবে। এখানে সকল নির্যাতনকারীর প্রতি একটা সতর্কবার্তা থাকবে যে নির্যাতন সবসময় পরাজিত হবে। মানুষের ইচ্ছা জয়লাভ করবে, কারণ মানুষ জš§গতভাবে স্বাধীন।
