বাংলাদেশে চা এর উৎপত্তি
চা : চা এর আদি নিবাস চীন। চা বাংলাদেশের দ্বিতীয় অর্থকরী ফসল। বাংলাদেশে ১৮৪০ সালে চট্টগ্রাম শহরের বর্তমান চট্টগ্রাম ক্লাব-সংলগ্ন এলাকায় সর্বপ্রথম একটি চা বাগান প্রতিষ্ঠা করা হয়, যা কুণ্ডদের বাগান নামে পরিচিত। এরপর সর্বপ্রথম বাণিজ্যিকভাবে প্রথম চা চাষ শুরু হয় ১৮৫৭ সালে সিলেটের মালনীছড়ায়, যা বাংলাদেশের প্রথম বাণিজ্যিক চা বাগান হিসেবে গণ্য হয়। সিলেট অঞ্চলে চা ভালো জন্মানোর কারণ পাহাড় ও প্রচুর বৃষ্টি। দেশ স্বাধীনের পূর্বে সিলেটের সুরমা ভ্যালী ও চট্টগ্রামের হালদা ভ্যালী এই দুইটি স্থানে চা চাষ করা হতো। পঞ্চগড় থেকে ‘অর্গানিক মিনা চা' সর্বপ্রথম বাজারজাত শুরু করে কাজী অ্যান্ড কাজী টি এস্টেট। বাংলাদেশের চা সবচেয়ে বেশি রপ্তানি হয় পাকিস্তানে। বাংলাদেশের উৎপাদিত চায়ের রপ্তানি করা হয় প্রায় ৬৫% । বাংলাদেশে অর্গানিক চা উৎপাদন শুরু হয়েছে পঞ্চগড়ে। বাংলাদেশে প্রথম অর্গানিক চা এর নাম মীনা চা। বাংলাদেশের সবচেয়ে বেশি চা উৎপন্ন হয় মৌলভীবাজারে। বাংলাদেশে উৎপাদিত চা ২ প্রকার। যথা :
১. কালো
২. সবুজ চা।
বর্তমানে দেশে চা বাগান ১৬৭টি। চা উৎপাদনে বাংলাদেশের অবস্থান ১০ম ।
দেশে চা বাজারজাতকরণের একমাত্র নিলাম বাজার অবি চট্টগ্রামে। চা পাতায় থাকে ভিটামিন বি কমপ্লেক্স। বাংলাদেশের চা বোর্ড চট্টগ্রামে। বাংলাদেশ চা বোর্ড একটি সংবিধিবদ্ধ প্রতিষ্ঠান। পাকিস্তান টি অ্যাক্ট-১৯৫০ এর অধীনে ১৯৫১ সালের ২৯ ফেব্রুয়ারি তৎকালীন পাকিস্তান টি বোর্ড গঠন করা হয়। জাতির পিতা বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান ৪ জুন ১৯৫৭ থেকে ২৩ অক্টোবর ১৯৫৮ পর্যন্ত তৎকালীন টি বোর্ডের চেয়ারম্যান হিসেবে পারিত্ব পালন করেন। শ্রীমঙ্গলে অবস্থিত বাংলাদেশ চা গবেষণা ইনস্টিটিউট।
চা চাষের জন্য উপযোগী জলবায়ু :
- উষ্ণ ও আর্দ্র জলবায়ু অঞ্চল।
- তাপমাত্রা ১৬-১৭° সেলসিয়াস।
- বৃষ্টিপাত : : ২৫০ সেন্টিমিটার।
- উর্বর লৌহ ও জৈব পদার্থ মিশ্রিত দোআঁশ মাটি ।
- পানি নিষ্কাশন বিশিষ্ট ঢালু জমিতে চা চাষ ভালো হয় ।

Origin of tea in Bangladesh
Tea: The original home of tea in China. Tea is the second cash crop of Bangladesh. In Bangladesh, the first tea garden was established in 1840 in the present Chittagong Club-adjacent area of Chittagong city, known as Kundader Bagan. Then the first commercial tea cultivation started in 1857 at Malnichara in Sylhet, considered the first commercial tea plantation in Bangladesh. The mountains and abundant rains are the reason why tea grows well in the Sylhet region. Before the independence of the country, tea was cultivated in the Surma Valley of Sylhet and the Halda Valley of Chittagong. Kazi & Kazi Tea Estate was the first to market 'Organic Meena Cha' from Panchagarh. The most exported tea of Bangladesh is to Pakistan. About 65% of the tea produced in Bangladesh is exported. Organic tea production in Bangladesh has started in Panchagarh. Meena Cha is the first organic tea in Bangladesh. Bangladesh most tea is produced in Moulvibazar. There are 2 types of tea produced in Bangladesh. Namely:
1. the black
2. green tea
At present, there are 167 tea gardens in the country. Bangladesh ranks 10th in tea production.
Chittagong is the only auction market for tea marketing in the country. Tea leaves contain vitamin B complex. Bangladesh Tea Board in Chittagong. Bangladesh Tea Board is a statutory body. The then Pakistan Tea Board was formed on February 29, 1951, under the Pakistan Tea Act-1950. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman served as the Chairman of the T Board from June 4, 1957, to October 23, 1958. Bangladesh Tea Research Institute is located at Srimangal.
Suitable Climate for Tea Cultivation:
- Hot and humid climate zone.
- Temperature 16-17°C.
- Rainfall:: 250 cm.
- Loamy soil is mixed with fertile iron and organic matter.
- Tea cultivation is better in sloping land with drainage.
