এসএসসি ও দাখিল ইংরেজি ২য় পত্র পরীক্ষায় ব্যাকরণ (Grammar) অংশের সবচেয়ে সহজ কিন্তু অসতর্কতার কারণে নম্বর হারানোর ঝুঁকিপূর্ণ একটি প্রশ্ন হলো Tag Questions (Tag Questions)। প্রশ্নপত্রে এটি ৫ নম্বর ক্রমিকে থাকে এবং পূর্ণমান হলো ৫ নম্বর (১ × ৫ = ৫ নম্বর: a থেকে e পর্যন্ত ৫টি প্রশ্ন)। এই SSC Tag Questions Rules যথাযথভাবে অনুসরণ করলে পরীক্ষায় সর্বোত্তম ফলাফল অর্জন করা সম্ভব।

Tag Questions হলো মূল বক্তব্যের পর শ্রোতার সম্মতি বা সত্যতা যাচাইয়ের জন্য বাক্যের শেষে যুক্ত সংক্ষিপ্ত প্রশ্ন। মাত্র ১৫টি সুনির্দিষ্ট শর্টকাট কৌশল এবং কন্ট্রাকশন রূপ আয়ত্ত করলে এই ৫ নম্বরে পুরো ৫-এ ৫ নিশ্চিত করা সম্ভব।

মৌলিক সূত্র (Golden Formula): বাক্যটি ইতিবাচক (Affirmative) হলে ট্যাগ হবে নেগেটিভ (Negative Tag = Aux + n’t + Pronoun?); আর বাক্যটি নেগেটিভ হলে ট্যাগ হবে ইতিবাচক (Positive Tag = Aux + Pronoun?)। এই SSC Tag Questions Rules যথাযথভাবে অনুসরণ করলে পরীক্ষায় সর্বোত্তম ফলাফল অর্জন করা সম্ভব।

বাধ্যতামূলক সংকেত: Tag Questions লেখার সময় সম্পূর্ণ বাক্যটি তুলে শেষে অবশ্যই কমা (,) এবং উত্তরের নিচে দাগ দিয়ে বাক্যের শেষে প্রশ্নবোধক চিহ্ন (?) দিতে হবে। প্রশ্নবোধক চিহ্ন না দিলে বোর্ড পরীক্ষায় নম্বর কাটা যায়।

বোর্ড পরীক্ষার ৩টি গোপন প্যাঁচ ও সতর্কতা:
১. সেমি-নেগেটিভ শব্দ খেয়াল করুন: বাক্যে hardly, seldom, scarcely, barely, rarely, little, few থাকলে বাক্যটি দৃশ্যত পজিটিভ হলেও অর্থ নেগেটিভ। তাই এদের ট্যাগ সর্বদা পজিটিভ হবে।

যেমন: ‘A barking dog seldom bites, does it?‘ (doesn’t it নয়!)
২. Everybody-র সাথে ভার্বের অমিল: মূল বাক্যে ‘Everybody wants‘ (Singular verb) থাকলেও ট্যাগে ‘they’ হওয়ার কারণে অক্সিলিয়ারি প্লুরাল হয়ে don’t they? হবে (doesn’t they কখনো হবে না)।
৩. Need-এর ব্যবহার: Need যদি মডাল হিসেবে বসে তবে ‘need you?’ কিন্তু মূল ভার্ব হিসেবে বসলে টেনস অনুসারে ‘doesn’t he?’ বা ‘don’t they?’ হবে।

প্রশ্ন ১: Tag Questions-এর মৌলিক সূত্র কী?
উত্তর: মূল বাক্য পজিটিভ হলে ট্যাগ হবে নেগেটিভ (Aux + n’t + Pronoun?); আর মূল বাক্য নেগেটিভ হলে ট্যাগ হবে পজিটিভ (Aux + Pronoun?)।

প্রশ্ন ২: Everybody বা Nobody থাকলে ট্যাগে ‘they’ বসে কেন?
উত্তর: ব্যাকরণগতভাবে এরা মূল বাক্যে একবচন হলেও অর্থগতভাবে বহুবচন (Plural)। তাই Tag Questions-এ সর্বদা এদের প্রোনাউন হিসেবে ‘they’ বসে এবং ভার্বও বহুবচন রূপ নেয় (যেমন: don’t they?, do they?)।

প্রশ্ন ৩: সেমি-নেগেটিভ শব্দগুলো কীভাবে চিনব?
উত্তর: hardly, seldom, scarcely, barely, rarely, little, few ইত্যাদি শব্দ বাক্যে থাকলে বাক্যটি নেগেটিভ হিসেবে গণ্য হয়, তাই এদের ট্যাগ প্রশ্ন সর্বদা পজিটিভ হয়।

প্রশ্ন ৪: Let’s এবং Let him এর ট্যাগে কী পার্থক্য?
উত্তর: Let’s বা Let us দিয়ে প্রস্তাব বোঝালে ট্যাগ হয় ‘shall we?’। কিন্তু Let him, Let them বা Let me দিয়ে অনুমতি বোঝালে ট্যাগ হয় ‘will you?’।
