 Paragraph: Pastimes

Write a paragraph on 'Pastimes' answering the following questions.

a) What do you mean by pastime?

b) How do pastimes vary ?

Ans.       

Pastimes

The thing we do regularly for enjoyment rather than work is called pastime. In other words, pastime means one’s activities in one’s leisure. It differs from place to place. In our country pastime varies in respect of locality. In the village, we see men pass their leisure by chatting. They also like to pass their time in some games and sports namely ha-du-du, boat race, kiting etc. Some village people have their pastimes by doing social activities. Some take part in cultural activities like ‘Jatra, Jari-gan,’ etc. Both in the towns and villages, we see people have their pastimes by taking part in the discussion on political issues at tea-stalls. In this scientific era, the pastime of the people living in the cities has been changed. They are fond of spending their leisure before television. They watch programmes of different satellite channels. The younger generation is very much fond of cricket and hence they prefer sports channels. The women in the city area are fond of watching drama and films on television. The Chinese spend their time with their family members in parks. The Japanese love sports and spend their time in playing baseball, golf and practicing martial arts. Students spend their leisure in English clubs or art clubs or doing skate boarding. Thus pastimes vary from region to region. The pastimes which are common all over the world are watching television, reading novels, collecting stamps, sight seeing, gardening, walking, gossiping, fishing, going on picnics etc. I have a keen interest in photography. That is why, it is my favourite pastime.

নিম্নলিখিত প্রশ্নের উত্তর দিয়ে 'পাস্টটাইমস'-এর উপর একটি অনুচ্ছেদ লিখুন।

ঘ) সারা বিশ্বে সাধারণ বিনোদন কি কি?

ঙ) আপনার প্রিয় বিনোদন কি?

 বিনোদন

আমরা কাজের চেয়ে আনন্দের জন্য যে জিনিসটি নিয়মিত করি তাকে বিনোদন বলা হয়। অন্য কথায়, বিনোদন মানে অবসর সময়ে একজনের কার্যকলাপ। এটা স্থান ভেদে ভিন্ন হয়। আমাদের দেশে বিনোদন এলাকাভেদে ভিন্ন হয়। গ্রামে আমরা দেখি পুরুষরা আড্ডা দিয়ে অবসর কাটায়। এছাড়াও তারা হা-ডু-ডু, নৌকা বাইচ, কিটিং ইত্যাদি খেলাধুলায় তাদের সময় কাটাতে পছন্দ করে। গ্রামের কিছু মানুষ সামাজিক কাজ করে তাদের বিনোদন করে। কেউ কেউ ‘যাত্রা, জারি-গান’ ইত্যাদি সাংস্কৃতিক কর্মকাণ্ডে অংশ নেয়। শহর ও গ্রামে আমরা দেখতে পাই, চা-স্টলে রাজনৈতিক বিষয় নিয়ে আলোচনায় অংশ নিয়ে মানুষ তাদের বিনোদনের সুযোগ পায়। এই বৈজ্ঞানিক যুগে, শহরগুলিতে বসবাসকারী মানুষের বিনোদন পাল্টে গেছে। তারা টেলিভিশনের আগে অবসর কাটাতে পছন্দ করেন। তারা বিভিন্ন স্যাটেলাইট চ্যানেলের অনুষ্ঠান দেখেন। তরুণ প্রজন্ম ক্রিকেটকে খুব পছন্দ করে এবং তাই তারা স্পোর্টস চ্যানেল পছন্দ করে। শহরের নারীরা টেলিভিশনে নাটক ও চলচ্চিত্র দেখতে পছন্দ করেন। চীনারা তাদের পরিবারের সদস্যদের সাথে পার্কে সময় কাটায়। জাপানিরা খেলাধুলা পছন্দ করে এবং বেসবল, গল্ফ এবং মার্শাল আর্ট অনুশীলনে তাদের সময় ব্যয় করে। ছাত্ররা ইংলিশ ক্লাব বা আর্ট ক্লাবে বা স্কেট বোর্ডিং করে তাদের অবসর কাটায়। তাই অঞ্চল ভেদে বিনোদনের ভিন্নতা রয়েছে। সারা বিশ্ব জুড়ে যে বিনোদনগুলি প্রচলিত তা হল টেলিভিশন দেখা, উপন্যাস পড়া, ডাকটিকিট সংগ্রহ করা, দর্শন করা, বাগান করা, হাঁটা, গসিপ করা, মাছ ধরা, পিকনিকে যাওয়া ইত্যাদি। ফটোগ্রাফিতে আমার গভীর আগ্রহ রয়েছে। সেজন্য, এটা আমার প্রিয় বিনোদন।

The sports the ones we do often for our amusement alternatively than paintings is known as pastime. Pastimes gives us with the opportunities of rest and recreation. It differs from place to place .In Indian sub-continent, people of both villages and towns have their own pastimes. . In the villages, we see men skip their leisure by way of chatting, gossiping and discussing nearby issues. Moreover ladies bypass their interest via gossiping, doing exclusive innovative works and son. They also indulge in a few video games and sports activities namely ha-du-du, boat race, kiting etc. Some village people have their pastimes by way of doing social activities. Some take part in cultural activities like ‘Jatra, Jari-gan,’ etc. The people in towns are normally knowledgeable and they spend their pastime reading newspapers, magazines, novels and different literary works. But the trend of hobby is progressively changing. At present guys and girls each youngers and elders, boys and ladies skip their time by using watching special YouTube videos, scrolling on Facebook, Twitter and exceptional social medias. Travelling is a proper leisure. It refreshes our thoughts and broadens our outlook. Nevertheless, it is real that travelling is an high priced pastime. It is to be stated that absolutely everyone must experience his or her sports related to hobby.

পেইন্টিংয়ের পরিবর্তে আমরা যে খেলাগুলি প্রায়শই আমাদের বিনোদনের জন্য করি তা বিনোদন হিসাবে পরিচিত। বিনোদন আমাদের বিশ্রাম এবং বিনোদনের সুযোগ দেয়। এটি স্থানভেদে ভিন্ন। ভারতীয় উপ-মহাদেশে, গ্রাম ও শহরের মানুষের নিজস্ব বিনোদন রয়েছে। . গ্রামে, আমরা দেখি পুরুষরা আড্ডা, গসিপ এবং কাছাকাছি বিষয় নিয়ে আলোচনার মাধ্যমে তাদের অবসর সময় এড়িয়ে যায়। তাছাড়া মহিলারা গসিপিং, একচেটিয়া উদ্ভাবনী কাজ এবং ছেলের মাধ্যমে তাদের আগ্রহকে বাইপাস করে। তারা হা-ডু-ডু, বোট রেস, কিটিং ইত্যাদি কয়েকটি ভিডিও গেম এবং খেলাধুলায়ও লিপ্ত হয়। কিছু গ্রামের মানুষ সামাজিক কার্যকলাপের মাধ্যমে তাদের বিনোদন করে। কেউ কেউ ‘যাত্রা, জারি-গান’ ইত্যাদি সাংস্কৃতিক কর্মকাণ্ডে অংশ নেয়। শহরের লোকেরা সাধারণত জ্ঞানী এবং তারা সংবাদপত্র, ম্যাগাজিন, উপন্যাস এবং বিভিন্ন সাহিত্যকর্ম পড়ে তাদের বিনোদনের সময় কাটায়। কিন্তু শখের প্রবণতা ক্রমশ বদলে যাচ্ছে। বর্তমানে ছেলেরা এবং মেয়েরা প্রত্যেকে ছোট এবং বড়, ছেলে এবং মহিলারা বিশেষ ইউটিউব ভিডিও দেখে, ফেসবুক, টুইটার এবং ব্যতিক্রমী সামাজিক মিডিয়াগুলিতে স্ক্রল করে তাদের সময় এড়িয়ে যায়। ভ্রমণ একটি উপযুক্ত অবসর। এটি আমাদের চিন্তাভাবনাকে সতেজ করে এবং আমাদের দৃষ্টিভঙ্গিকে প্রসারিত করে। তবুও, এটা বাস্তব যে ভ্রমণ একটি উচ্চ মূল্যের বিনোদন। এটা বলা উচিত যে একেবারে প্রত্যেকের অবশ্যই শখের সাথে সম্পর্কিত তার খেলাধুলার অভিজ্ঞতা থাকতে হবে
